It wasn't the main point of that inclusion, it's a by-product. The main point was if you somehow got to 1000 cars, 40 lvls, and so on and your file got corrupted, you were screwed! Backing up your file saved you that trouble, but a by-product is you can duplicate cars.

isn't there another way to be able to do that? it can ruin a big chunk of the game..

make a backup without car duplication..

Yes. the duplication part only comes if you are being  dishonest., the backup save is just that, a back up save.
