Andir > The main page is HTML not an image. So an image has to be produced to be used on signatures which means you either have to manually create the image (as it's currently done) or to create a script to do it automatically.
Doing it manually means that updating is a boring task to do regularly, so it's not updated as often as the front page.
[EDIT] Yep, the Google API might be interesting if you can customize the output to match your needs. Thanks for the suggestion.
