The former is probably true to be fair; 140m PS2 owners would've jumped onto the PS3 if it had been cheap enough (Completely and utterly Sony's fault though, that's what they should get for trying to use it videogame base to popularize Blueray). Now though, people are vastly overestimating PlayStation's future potential with lower price.
