How exactly is 10 to 15 years in a prison a fair punishment for potentially scarring a 17 month old child both physically and mentally for their entire lives? Have you ever gotten a bad burn from deep frying something? How about just burning yourself with water? Burns HURT, probably the most painful injury you can sustain. That kid will probably have problems his entire life.
I never said I agreed with vigilante justice, but I'm sorry, if that was my daughter, the guy would be dead already, whether he was in custody or not. I'm sure I have enough money that I could hire someone to put a bullet in his head...
While I wouldn't go to quite as far an extreme as superchunk there, I don't feel that prison is an adequate inhibitor to this sort of behaviour anymore. Especially not up here in Canada, where recently some fucking slime who sexually abused his daughter on film and passed it around the net got 3 years or something rediculous. How can you possibly say that 3 years in any jail is equivilent to that sort of crime? In this case, there was absolutely no doubt. The dude hand delivered the evidence into an undercover cops hands...In my opinion? The guy at the very least should have been kicked out of the country, his citizenship revoked with no chance of returning ever. No other countries willing to take him? Dump him on some island somewhere and forget he ever existed.
