I don't find it that hard. This is just how games used to be back in the 90s. Games today have made us too soft, constantly holding our hand. This game sends you on your merry way and says "good luck, you're on your own."

Anyway, I actually find NSMB is harder, at least the multiplayer is, since everybody gets in the way of everybody else. Plus the controls are a little trickier in that game.

The only levels I've had issues with are the minecart levels, since there is a lot of trial and error and no turning back. But you can buy tons of lives from Cranky so it's all good. Also, getting some of those puzzle piece can become tricky. But just going through the levels normally is not hard, in fact I usually find it easy.
