I think it is also safe to say that the GT franchise is no longer what it was. If you want a realistic high performance car racers you have many choices now. GT3 was the showcase title for the PS2. If you wanted to see what a PS2 could do GT3 was the title for a long time and if you were impressed by graphics you bought a PS2 because of GT3. Almost made me purchase a PS2, but not really a fan of sims racers.
MS was also very smart to offer the holiday bundle with Forza 3. Certainly many people said hey I can get a HD console with a great beautiful sim racer for free with a 360. The GT5 delay made that worse because by the time it released the only 250GB 360s you could find were the holiday bundle.
Finally the relatively poor reviews will limit GT5 legs.
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
