There were more especially right after the game was announced but I can't find the threads anymore.

NSMBWii did over 2 million 1st week.

Based on those links, no one predicted "NSMBWii like" sales.  I don't think you can't find the threads, I think it's more like they don't exist.

EDIT: This is exactly what Halo_Reach got flamed for in the other thread - taking a few outrageous predictions (though the links you provided weren't outrageous at all) and making it seem like "a lot" of people had such lofty expectations.
