Yes, I am right when we only speak of this generation, and that's what the OP is about. I understand in the long run there might be a difference, but this is a different topic.
As for Sony with PS1 and PS2, I think they did everything right with those 2 consoles, that's why they are such a big success.
In this generation, Nintendo just did (probably almost) everything right. They sell loads of their consoles at profit. What could they have done better? I can't think of anything. And I really hope nobody says it would have sold better with HD graphics, because it most certainly wouldn't have. It would probably have sold less because of a higher price. Let's face it, in the end, the majority of people buys when the price is right. The hardcore fans buying at ANY price are negligible in the end.
