We all know how that worked out for MAG.

SOE delayed the PS3 beta for preorder customers and has just announced that all PSN members will get access to the DCUO beta.

So preordering DCUO for the PS3 beta key turned out as a fairly hollow exercise... that worked pretty well for SOE.
