Easily my biggest disappointment this gen. I don't understand why people love the battle system, it is by far my most hated feature and a sign of where RPG's as a genre is headed (actionland).

I'm at the beginning/middle of chapter 11 but can't muster the energy to play any longer and haven't picked up the game in months to be honest.

This. This x100!!!

I hated this game's battle system with a passion. I don't get what's so wrong with traditional turn based play. The only ones whining about it are the CoD and GoW (God of War) "hardcorez" who don't buy these kinds of games anyway.

Ironically, most companies try to cater to their needs, alienating the JRPG fans. >_>

It's really shame that turn based combat system is pretty much dying away at least on home consoles. Lost Odyssey is still pretty much only turn based JRPG on HD consoles. Where are my turn based JRPGs. =( LO sold just fine considering that it's on X360.

But FFXIII is turn based because you can not move around in Real-Time.

and Star Ocean,Tales have always been Real-Time and I guess you hate Grandia and all all  Level 5 JRPGs except for DQVIII.

At least by my definition FFXIII battle system is more real time than turn based. If game has proper turn based combat system I can go to toilet and come back and the battle is in the same state that I left it. In FFXIII I die if I left the battle for couple of minutes. Also I didn't say that I hate games with real time combat system. -.- I just prefer turn based combat system and as pretty much every home console JRPG nowadays has real time combat system it sucks for me. I like variety!

But FFIV,V,VI,VII,VIII,IX,X-2 and XII you coud not leve for 2 mins and still be alive the last FF you could do that with was FFX with the CTB battle system.
