If those numbers are correct, then Monster Hunter 3 Portable had the 5th biggest launch of any game ever in Japan. Second only to Pokemon Black/White (2.6 million), Final Fantasy 8 (2.59 million), Dragon Quest 9 (2.33 million) and Dragon Quest 8 (2.26 million).
It also puts MH3P as the 60th best selling game in Japan after just 1 week. Monster Hunter 2nd G made 4.08 million in Japan, after a launch of 857,000.
It's also the first non-Nintendo, non-Square Enix game to sell over 1.3 million in Japan in the first week.
Quite amazing, all in all.
