Because its not the same thing over again? Taking a existing character and/or world and using it does not take away from how different a lot of the games are (power ups, level layout, boss fights, etc). A lot of the "new" IPS are basically this the only difference is they change the leading character too. You can change the way a game is played but then that does not really fit into my question of what do you think will be Nintendos next full 2D retail game? Though even that last statment can be argued against as you can play the exact same thing in a different way... You can change servaral things and still use the same leading character(s)/ world(s) and make it completely different.
They do both anyways. The Wii series just doesnt have a face.
