Feel free to use whatever method you like, but NPD will count the week of Dec 30th to Jan 5th in their December totals. (as will VGchartz i assume)

October 1st through 6th were in September Totals.

November 1st through 3rd were in October totals.

December 1st was in November Totals.

Etc, etc.

 

Actually VGC monthly pages uses the method of most days... so whichever month has most of the weeks days [4, 5, 6 or 7] has that week included. So on VGC monthly December page the week ending 5th Jan will not be included because more of it is in January. NPD uses the odd method of 4-4-5, so that March, June, September and December are always 5 weeks, and all other months are 4 weeks... irrespective of where specific weeks fall.... I think sometimes it's possible for a week to not even be in the correct month at all. [eg week ending 7th May would be part of April NPD] Occasionally by NPD January is 5 weeks too [like last year] You should all remember that when comparing NPD... It's best to use the comparison table instead of the monthly chart for NPD.
