Well, besides GT Sony never really had a big selling franchise. The reason is somehow a little mystery to me. But we also have to think a little about the term "big seller". If we look at God of War for example, it could very well being considered as a big seller because it is the highest selling Hack&Slash game on the market, and GoW3 will very likely sell more than the first one. In the end Sony's own games are far away from selling bad, their sales are actually very good, but they are not "CoD/Halo - huge" either. |
You also have to take into account how many PS3 Exclusives there are. Think of it this way, on 360 if a shooter fan wants a game, he either gets COD, Gears, Halo, or maybe ME2 most likely. On PS3 there is COD, Resistance, Killzone, MAG, MGS4, Uncharted, SOCOM, inFamous (It is a shooter), and then there are more non-shooter exclusives too.
I'm not saying Halo doesn't put up impressive sales, but PS3 users flat out have more to choose from. No one should be surprised that COD sells better on 360 either considering the massive bias towards 360 activision has been payed to have.
Prediction for console Lifetime sales:
Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million
[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]
3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m
I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.
