You're right, it is much cooler. Until you grow hair on your nuts. Then you pass it off to the closest 6-year old or lose it in the couch somewhere.

 

They sell because they are desired by millions of children with parents who buy them for them. They sell because they are cheap and disposable. If you lose one, you can just go buy another. Most people aren't willing to do that with a home console.

 

So do you really think that PS2 hasn't been selling to kids with the 99$ pricetag?

Even if it is, its a dying technology. Even at $99, sales won't continue forever, regardless of who they try and market it to. Sales are already starting to look abysmal now.
