Yeah, Em has made some wacky songs but that doesn't take away his lyrical ability. And why does it matter if the hood bumps Eminem or not ? I'm sure MC's like Rakim, Canibus, or Vinnie Paz get no love in the hood either ... but does that make them bad ? |
Well old school kids hood or otherwise would know rakim.
As he was and is the idol to: BIG, Tupac and Nas. As far as i know for the famous rappers. I also think jay-z has a song where compliments Rakim as the best. "87 state a mind that im in".
Now paz is raw rap and has appeal to more of the individuals world wide who like to hear new things out of there rap so maybe no nescarrally hood popular but certainly popular with the lower classes world wide (ie many turks listen to his music) Paz is quite succesfull though since JMT alone has sold like 500k albums worldwide.
Now cannibus is shit and had one good album... but he is very very shit and rapping with JMT gives him no cred just makes JMT sound a bit better.
Rakim is also one of the first succesful founder of rap since he was the first to be payed a million.
But em... he has his good and bad day in rap overall though he has goood lyrical abilty though his albums more into this century Recovery, Relapse, Encore are all pretty bad lyrically.
I don't what people see in recovery... It might be some tight lyrics some of the times. But its not really relevant plus there's no dre so no good production. Not one beeat is memorable. Relapse was ten time better. And he just makes No Love sound better by the pacing he delivers his verse.
Anyone who know rap would see that. He is still best lyriscast and amazing flow when he wants to be. I hope next album i is something to look forward to.
Becayse quoting rakim here im waiting for a new good aritst/album in rap because:
"It's been a long time: (best song ever) and no yelling involved.

"Rainbird: Why don't Nintendo and Microsoft Copy the Sony Blog?
Bagenome:You can't shoot things on a blog, and babies can't read, so I don't think it would suit either one's target audience."
