Actually it does. Without the combination of the Wiimote+Wii Sports (because that game would not be what it is without the Wimote) the Wii would be performing similarly to the Gamecube or probably worse* (see NES->SNES->N64->Gamecube sales trend) so while not everybody buys the Wii because of Wii Sport the majority does:
In America: 8.5M Wii - 3.6M GC = 4.9M Wii sold due to Wii Sport
In Europe: 6.2M Wii - 1.8M GC = 4.4M Wii sold due to Wii Sport
In Japan: 2.48M Wii Sport sold
For a total of about 11.M people buying a Wii for Wii Sport.
Now it could be argued that some of those did not buy it for the traditional reasons people buy Nintendo consoles nor for Wii Sport which would make the number smaller (if taking the extreme of half of those numbers outside of Japan it would give us 4.65M Wii Sport + 2.48 in Japan for 7.17M and growing) but it would still be a very significant number and growing at a rapid pace so completely dismissing Wii Sport because it is a pack-in is shortsighted at best.
*because those that bought a Wii but didn't buy a GC generally do it for its casual games and it is unlikely that they will like casual games and not like Wii Sport enough to not want it.
