apparently it sold near 300k in uk alone.

Doubtful i would say seeing as as fifa 11 sold about 350k-400k in it's first week in UK on 360 . And chart said it was the 6th highest opening for a PS3 game. Fifa 11 was at that time the record holder for opening week in UK only to be beaten by Black Ops recently. So for GT5 to have those numbers probably would of put it nearer the top for PS3 openings in UK.

On another note ioi if your reading this in the Pal Charts this week someone mentions UK is one of the weaker regions for GT games. Can you confirm that? Because i find that a bit hard to believe considering how huge motorsport is in the country.

"In Europe, GT5 set overall sales records in many smaller countries but performance wasn't good enough in major markets like the UK (where Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto and FIFA dominate) to set an overall sales record."

Taken from the article.

Probably not one of the weakest but not as big as many other European countries (relatively).

Interesting.

If you look at UK charts there is always at least 1 racing game in the chart. Games like F1 2010, NFS and even Forza still getting into the charts now and then. Don't really see many in the other european charts.

In UK racing is massive. F1 is on BBC1 and Top Gear is one of the most watched shows not just in UK but worldwide. In UK there are many channels on Sky dedicated to just motorsport.  The only other country i could think of who give a monkies about it would be Italy as they have a rich history with motorsport, same as UK. It would be good to see some numbers of the countries sales for the genre.

Sure, but then you have to factor in that the UK is one of PS3's weakest regions (relatively). I expect GT5 to stay in the charts though for some time.

As i pointed out in the other thread how do you come to the conclusion that UK for PS3 is relatively weak?

Currently 3.5m PS3's sold there, the 3rd biggest country in the world,  making it by miles the biggest region in Europe for PS3 sales. Nearly 1m units ahead of the next country France. Pretty much more then the the next 2 Germany and Spain combined. Software sales are gigantic.

As i also said if there is some figures out there to proove that those numbers are true and UK is indeed weakest then i would love to see them. They must have a mega high attach rate considering their console numbers in the other countries?
