IDK elsewhere, but here in Italy Ninty started a very heavy Xmas advertising, a lot more than Sony (that some days before GT5 launch was mildly advertising PS Move) and MS (that's currently getting almost only 3rd party advertising, these days mainly NFS: Hot Pursuit XB360 version).
