without reading the whole thread:

MS actually tries to be successful in America and UK.

In Germany you might see 10 Xbox 360 commercials per year. You see them now in time for the Xmas rush. CoD Black Ops got some ads, but thats it. No Kinect ads, No Fable III ads - nothing!

Look at Xbox Live, here you miss important features that actually improved the service and pushed hardware.

Imagine Xbox Live without

  • ESPN
  • Last.FM
  • Netflix
  • Sky
  • Inside Xbox / Majors Minute and stuff

and Gears of War was never released in Germany. Sure you can buy it from Austria and a lot of people did so, but it was never in stores in Germany.

I want MS to go for the German or continental European market like they go for the UK and US market. They spent so much money on the Japanese market and managed to sell way better than with the Xbox1, but they have to realise that this is a MUST for Europe as well.

I never really understood how MS managed to drive XBL Gold memberships this way. I mean XBL is great, don't get me wrong, but I can get all those things just by using internet explorer. Every home console has Netflix now, and Facebook and Twitter...meh.

I would think PSN with free internet explorer, minus some features (like the Party system) would atract gamers in Americas just as much.

Personally I'm putting Sony up a vote when it comes to next gen consoles due to this "paying for online gaming."

This isn't realated to the thread, so don't comment on it, but my main annoyance with XBL is tha I pay for it even if I don't use it. MS forces me to essentially buy a 12 month card, but on a typical month where I am in school I only play max 10 hours a month. I only play more when it comes to a new release or breaks.
