I disagree with that. Here's Harry and Hermoine, having no where to go and no clue which to go after. Ron has just left them and the locket has taken its toll on their outlook on the situation. Pretty much: life sucks. 
Then Harry throws off the locket and lends Hermoine a hand. It's a great change of atmosphere, and makes both the characters and the audience forget, even for a little bit, about the seemingly hopeless situation they're in. Harry's just trying to make Hermoine smile, as she hasn't done so for days. I found it to be a nice change of pace and very sweet.
