Man Nintendo is getting desperate to push out those Wii's. All these bundles will hopefully raise holiday sales above PS3 and rival Kinect. But I notice something critical, Nintendo is bundling these consoles with old software. I remember back in SNES and N64 days Nintendo would bundle the hardware with new software.

I think Nintendo would have sold way more units had they done this bundle back in 2008. The Mario bundle is certainly great but again bundled with year old software. I remember I had a friend who bought the Donkey Kong Country SNES bundle back in the day infact several people I know did. Maybe Nintendo should be bundling a green Wii with DKC:R instead or how about a WiiParty bundle with two WiimotePlus controllers.

I think if Nintendo capitalizes on their superb software they could push the Wii to that 45-mill mark in the next two years. Release all those colours you promised us in 06. Give us bundles with Skyward Sword and Nintendo's next big holiday title. I think the WiiFit bundle might sell but it won't do nearly as good as it could have done in 08.

Also Nintendo is avoiding another price cut with these bundles. Smart decision. I think a reason Nintendo might not be bundling new software is because new software can sell for alot of profit where as if Nintendo includes it free with the hardware they loose what 25-30$ of profit. But think Nintendo you may sell more hardware as a result. Its worth the loss in software sales!

If you're buying a new Wii, chances are these games are not old to you, because, you know, you didn't have a Wii until now. Of course, that's assuming you are a normal person and not someone who buys the same console again just because it has a different colour and a new game bundled with it.

This. And it applies to every good game for every console, but it looks like Nintendo can use them better than competitors. Obviously, usually new games sell HW better because they get more marketing, but currently Nintendo is nicely supporting both SW and HW sales heavily advertising its old classics and including them in special HW bundles that cater for many different tastes.
