Sega handled the PS3 port.  Basically they took on publishing rights, looked at the game - at that point developed on and only for 360 - and wisely decided it had better be on PS3, too.  They ported it - none to well but I don't actually blame them as they had a small timeframe and the code wasn't theirs to begin with.

Lucky for Platinum Sega did so as the rought port nonetheless outsold the 360 version.  This isn't a knock on the 360, but even a basic glance at demographics on 360/PS3 should have made Platinum realise that they were planning to release exclusively on a platform where they were almost certain to see less sales.

I just really don't get some decisions like this.  It's like Alan Wake being exclusive despite the much larger history on PS3 for survival horror and the fact Blood Siren and other titles should have ensured a decent install base interested in horror themed titles.  I'm absolutely sure Alan Wake had a chance - similar to Bayonetta - to actually sell more on PS3 than it did on 360.

I repeat - I just don't get some developers decisions regarding platform.

Yeah i agree actully, a lot like Tales of Vespira being 360 exclusive. but i thought Alan Wake was developed by a microsoft first party studio, if it not then that is poor decision making.

by the way imo Alan Wake wasnt a failure, 800,000 is good for a new IP, its got excellent reviews. the only reason its considered a flop imo, is because microsoft fans predicted it would outsell Heavy Rain, and go on to sell 4-5 mil copies. that was imo why it was a failure.

Bayonetta 2 i imagine will be on lead development for the PS3, because of the sales, and it should benfit from that a great deal imo. in light of your words, you cant really blame Sega for the port in the end.
