So far only Bayonetta seems to have done okay - although arguably Vanquish might have legs.

Overall though I think their output's been a bit questionable in terms of approach:

1 - madworld I think should have been on HD consoles as well.  Silly to confine a game with that style to Wii.  Quality was okay.

2 - Bayonetta should never for a moment been developed specifically for 360 and despite Sega delivering a rushed port that port saw more sales on the obvious platform for the game - PS3

3 - Vanquish quality is good but I think the basic narrative but the basic mix of stylistics didn't resonate and I think that it lacked a real hook compared to say Bayonetta which easily stood out.

In short, I think they need to think a lot more about the platform they're releasing on and whether their game really suits it or not from a demographic/style point of view.

1. i think Madworld did well, half a mil is reasonably good for that type of game on the wii. they should port it to PS3 like konami are doing with No More Heros imo.

2. Agreed, but i thought it was Platinum who handled the port not Sega, i thought Sega only published the game.

3. imo Vanquish is a medoicure game, they shouldve done more research into western shooters imo, it had the potential to be a lot better imo.

Sega handled the PS3 port.  Basically they took on publishing rights, looked at the game - at that point developed on and only for 360 - and wisely decided it had better be on PS3, too.  They ported it - none to well but I don't actually blame them as they had a small timeframe and the code wasn't theirs to begin with.

Lucky for Platinum Sega did so as the rought port nonetheless outsold the 360 version.  This isn't a knock on the 360, but even a basic glance at demographics on 360/PS3 should have made Platinum realise that they were planning to release exclusively on a platform where they were almost certain to see less sales.

I just really don't get some decisions like this.  It's like Alan Wake being exclusive despite the much larger history on PS3 for survival horror and the fact Blood Siren and other titles should have ensured a decent install base interested in horror themed titles.  I'm absolutely sure Alan Wake had a chance - similar to Bayonetta - to actually sell more on PS3 than it did on 360.

I repeat - I just don't get some developers decisions regarding platform.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
