Good sales except for PSP relative to time of year, software and other recent releases.
Not sure why some 360 fans think the Kinect software sales are low or unexpected. It's a new peripheral and in a demographic that typically isn't front loaded. If 1 million Kinect's sell and a game has 25% attach rate that's only 250K.
The software sales are okay for this point in the release. If they don't show legs that would be a worry because that would mean Kinect isn't taking hold properly. But it's way too early to judge that yet. Also it should be remembered that with this kind of stuff you get a bit of a spread - some people might pick up nothing but Kinect/Adverntures, others might buy another title and they'll be all over the place, some taking Dance Central, some Kinect Sports, etc. There is no way any other titles (Adverntures aside) is likely to show big initial sales.
So I think the initial sales look okay and now it's all about legs and what kind of additional holiday sales Kinect and it's titles see. Time will tell.
Also, I'm really surprised to see people wonderng at the big Wii upswing - the Wii is a very seasonal console vs PS3/360. It does a huge chunk of it's sales in the holidays and those sales are not dependant on any specific title - they're about it's position in the marketplace which is still as a desirable gift and fun console for motion controls / Wii Sports. Check The Source's nice article on seasonality. In short - the Wii should see it's sales increase just because it's that time of year when people buy Wii's as gifts.
Personally, I still think Wii has a good shot of selling more WW than 360 or PS3 as it's sales should increase steadily now purely due to seasonality. But, we'll see. 360 is doing very well in US and 360/PS3 are both strong in EMEAA at this point. Still think Wii might pip them just on seasonal gift buying - but we'll see.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
