Why doesn't Nintendo make a FPS?

Why would they make an FPS that has to compete with COD, Halo and the millions of games trying and failing to replicate their success when they can make another Mario Galaxy, one of the few dozen half decent platformers made in the past 5 years, and completely corner the platformer market.
