And before anyone says anything about the sales figures being inflated by replaced systems, I can't prove that, it's something I remember happening back when the systems were just starting to get all the press. My understanding was they were replacing the systems, and the new system was getting a new serial number, and they'd make another new system out of the system parts of the failed system, giving them another serial number to sell on the market, putting out yet another serial number to show units sold.
So I'll let go of that argument since I can't prove that happened. It doesn't subtract from the point I'm making, which is RROD inflates their numbers tremendously.
Regardless, RROD gave them a ton of freebies, not everyone was in warranty when their system died, not everyone uses their warranty, (They just bought a new one) and a lot of people used their insurance replacements. All of those help MS numbers, period.
They also inflate their numbers by claiming units shipped are units sold.
