With the cost of game development going up will flash memory ever get to the point where it becomes economically viable again? I see more publishers push for Digital Download and streaming over any physical media whatsoever. For them it improves profit margins by getting rid of retailers, they can finally get rid of second-hand sales and control the market pricing better.

Btw, No, I don't think this is that good for consumers as a whole, but that's where I see it heading. Not flash.

ITS HEADING there indeed... but some already withnist the power of not buying....like generation games..they didt sell the first one because it whas download only.... now the second game si comming on dics...

we dont want download only...thats why psp go flopped.. and soo willl the new xbox if its download only

PSP Go flopped because it was overpriced. We still don't know how well digital downloads are doing on X-box Live or PSN, but on PC Steam seems to be very popular now. I've also started to notice full retail PS3 games are now becoming available to download on PSN on top of older and smaller titles. Also, OnLive will be out soon and depending on the effect and growth it has, a lot of others in the industry could follow suit.

I see the publishers pushing this a lot. It might not be at the start of next gen but I see the transition occuring.

Btw, what generation games?
