So I'm not sure if I'm reading what you wrote correctly, but according to your theory ESPN is stupid in order to appeal to stupid beer drinking Americans. I guess that would make everything that they do make much more sense and I might have to agree.
I have a couple of questions for you though:

What is hockey's limited demographic? The attendance figures that nordlead brought up would argue otherwise.
