I apologize if I sound terse. I do not mean to be.

The problem is that those games did not drive hardware sales enough to matter. Their attach rates do not tell the story. Their sales are an indication of their appeal, not just their appeal in the context of the hardware.

The software did not appeal, is the problem. Not enough.

No, you didn't sound terse. Whenever I read a reply I read it as if the person is typing in my mood.  And as such I am pretty laid back and relaxed right now ^_^. I just wasn't sure if you were going off topic or not and wanted to keep it from continuing.

And what about games like Ikaruga, Star Ocean, FF, Monster Hunter, Dead or Alive, and Phantasy Star? Are you saying these games don't have appeal to Japanese gamers?

Some of the games I listed I heard were really hyped in Japan and if I recall did move quite a few consoles. Saying that MS doesn't have many games that appeal to Japanese gamers is just plain wrong...

Not mass appeal...none of those really, the FF you say is FF11....a MMO

Those games DID have appeal...and  thats why Xbox 360 has done better than Xbox in Japan.

The Japanese have been unfair to the xbox 360.....but it didn't have any mass appeal games on it, no potential 1 million plus sellers. 360 needed a single player FF, Dragon Quest or Mosnter Hunter to be exclusive to it
