OK then, when I have a demo in a few days I'll post it in a new topic for feedback.
Using VG Chartz is a great idea. I won't make it commercial; in fact I'll give out the source code (not C, but a game making program with a scripting language).

When you first start, you choose a fictional company; each has strengths and weaknesses
You are given a budget. You can design your console and build the company. Your competitors are randomly created.
You are shown the console launch. Each week, you must attract new games from publishers or develop your own, manufacture and distribute your console, manage your budget, create or respond to random events and use VG Chartz to track software and hardware sales of you and your competitors.
It will be an ongoing simulation.

Now, don't get too ambitious. I am not doing (online) multiplayer, a game builder of any kind (although perhaps a small easter egg game would be possible) or any 3D work.
"-Multiplayer: speaks for itself. Have 2 or more companies duke it out to see who can get the most profit in a set amount of time, or who can make the most popular game, or some other setting."
No. Local multiplayer would be possible but having two simulations on one computer would be impossible to fairly control, and no althogether in terms of online multiplayer.
