Unfortunately, the site doesn't quite agree with me on the other thing I wish video game reviews would do. The average of 0 and 10 is 5, thus an average game should get a 5, not a 7-8. Think about it for games- what's the difference between a 3.0 and 2.5 on a 10-point scale? Both would be called absolute shit.

That comes down to your own definition of average imo. To me I expect every game to be fun and functional if those two criteria are met the game is average-good to me which would be a 7. If the game isn't all that fun or all that functional that is when you dip into the mediocre to abysmal category which is 5 and below.

Different POV, I can respect that, but it does leave me one question: why is there such a large range for games that are essentially non-functional?
