500k Kinects sold...That's $75 million in hardware sales alone in 2 days, not including what they made from the increase in 360 console sales or software, and that $500 mil for marketing wasn't just for launch. It's gonna be spent throughout the entire holiday season. I'd say MS is fine with the results so far.

You are forgetting to include manufacturing and shipping costs of the Kinect units. A reasonable estimate should put Kinect selling for quite a small margin of profit. I mean, they neeeded to cut internal processors and the like to make it cheaper to manufacture already.
