after a casual customer finds out it costs $300 and not $150, he might just get a Wii instead, or a DS as a gift for someone

hell, the pissed off customer might say bad things to his friends about Kinect, after being misled by Microsoft

 

 

This. Discovering that for those that don't already own a 360 the entry price is at least twice as much should be enough to change the inclination to buy of many people. But people discovering it after buying it would be not just disappointed, but actually pissed off.
