You can't credit Jobs for everything Apple's done. Infact he had such little faith in the company that he sold 45% of his stocks in Apple for 295 Mill. I remember reading in Macleans that his stock would have been worth like tripple that today. If he had such faith in his company and himself why would he sell out?

Iwata also hasn't left Nintendo, Steve Jobs was pretty much let go from his own company the board of directors wanted him gone. He was re-hired when they took over his new company NeXT. If we was such a great founder and company exec compared to Iwata why did the board of directors pretty much force him to resign in the first place?

As for brand recognition. You can argue the the I brand sells way better then Nintendo's consoles. But what about Macantosh which last I heard was hovering around 7% of the home computer market and they used to control 5% (Can't find quote) . They apparently do control the premium home computer market but you know what not everybody is rich and can afford premium computers.

Also Mario is the second best known mascot in the world. Second only to Mickey Mouse. That is huge product recognition I bet in Africa or other third world countries most haven't heard of the I-Pad but ask them about Mario and I bet they all know who he is.

Jobs wishes he had the brands Nintendo does, not trying to insult him I'm sure 100% that he does wish he had Nintendo's intellectual properties. Which buisness exec wouldn't Nintendo's properties are huge. Where as I doubt Iwata wishes he had the I-Pad!
