Mr. Puggsly is right on this one they've essentially thrown everything away that their gaming devision ever made, profit wise, the PS3 will be even harder to recoup money since not being market leader means they can't get away with charging as much for royalties as they did on the PS2.
I don't believe they went into the red overall but they're essentially starting to square one again, hopefully they realize why you don't sell your console at a loss with technology that will take a lot time to become financially viable for a consumer price.
Though it is worth noting since the restructuring the games division has apparently started to make Sony money again its just now they're bundled in with other divisions, though unless Sony gives detailed reports on departments, then we'll know nothing for certain, mainly how well the company is doing now and if they can recoup some of their losses.
So this doesn't turn into a big deal @ theflyingdutchman drop it, it's not going to go anywhere and Puggsly brought in the facts.
