The Grinder was initially a Wii exclusive but HVS isn't a Wii exlusive developer and they had PS3 and X360 dev kits just collecting dust (in other words, not making any money for them) so they needed to do something that could get into production quickly for an HD console title without breaking the bank since they fund most of their titles themselves. So they chose to make a top down Guantlet style downloadable title for the HD consoles while still having what they felt was a compelling source material to pull the game story and characters from: The Grinder.
