No one's ignoring anything, his comment was overtly dismissive and plays into a larger narrative of where he wants to see games go. Cage sees games as art, which is fine, and legitimate, but his view of art pushes in a pretty narrowly cinematic direction imo. Art isn't just narrative or plot, in fact art usually has no traditional narrative or plot if you really want to get into it.
And this wasn't even his only comment on Wii in the interview. Again, he said Wii unnaturally distorted the market (in a pretty negative tone btw), and that the Wii "empire" was over now, for two examples. People aren't exactly hating for hate's sake here, people have serious disagreements with Cage's comments here.
