I have a radical idea for our bank holidays...  do away with all this historical religious, political and royal bullshit reasons and just give us the 1st monday in every other month off and 2 extra at xmas!!!

Erm if you got rid of the religious bullshit there'd be no xmas onto which to tack an extra 2 days. I guess you could make it Henge day since Stone Henge allegedly has something to do with the winter solstace, which is reasonably close to the current xmas. At least is has something to do with your indigenous heritage and wasn't imported (or at least was imported so long ago no one remembers).
