nah, i do remeber a developer interview saying some places cannot be re-visited because of the multiple DVD issue. Hell, certainly developer can say whatever they want. we may never know the true story. but the engine went multi-platform after seeing the disappointing ps3 initial sales. any engine designer will know a multi-platform engine is way more difficult than an single-platform engine.  they can use that resouce to design actual towns. heck, i wish FFv13 can back to the FF formula again. world map, airship and open-world exploration. those are what made FF great!

there were towns not traditional ones, saying there were not towns is incorrect. Nauhtilus, Palum Polum,  Bodhum and Oerba were all towns. It didn't have shops in the towns.

and I disagree about the world map, airship and open world exploration making final fantasy great. Oblivion, Fallout blows Final Fantasy out of the water in that department imo, but that's a different topic.

And FFXIII is probably my 5th favorite so it's not like I necessarily thought other aspects in XIII were superior to other FF's

FFVERSUSXIII as already been confirmed to have Airships, Overword, very traditional Towns with shops and a Ocean.

Also if the Muti-Disc Design of FFXIII limited the backtracking then FFVII(3 discs), FFVIII(4 discs) and FFIX(4 discs) would have been imposable to make.

From my prospective FFXIII stated development as a traditional RPG then became a Action RPG with Traditional ATB Battle System. FFVERSUSXIII started development as an Action RPG and is becoming a Traditional RPG with Action RPG Battle System.

I still don;t know why some Fans can not except that they were Towns gust on in the Traditional RPG sense of Towns with shops and a Inn.
