Eeh... a lot of them. About 25GB of mp4s, so yeah... a whole lot of albums. Took minutes to build a browsable tree. Problem seems to be that since it doesn't have a dedicated structure where to put the music (e.g. a MP4 folder to always look in for music), it scans every file to build its list instead of just listing folders first and scanning each of them upon request. So, the 32GB one wasn't worth it for me (luckily I found a use for it in my camera).
I'm actually using a 1GB card in the DSi now, and with just 7-8 albums it still takes quite a few seconds. I've pretty much stopped using it as a music player these days, put a 16Gb microSD in my mobile instead.
