what?!?

almost everyone thought the Wii would fail, and fail miserably, most people thought it was a stupid idea, but look at what happened, the Wii becomes one of the most successful consoles of all time

now this time everyone thinks Kinect will be huge and successful, but in life, many times, the opposite happens, again just look at the Wii, because life is unpredictable

If businesses could predict things, Sony or MS would have come up with something like the Wii first, but you cannot predict these things, or else everyone would be successul in business

If Nintendo truly saw Kinect as a threat, they would drop the price of the Wii....

because Nintendo could DEFINATELY afford a Wii price cut....hell the Wii was profitable when it first released unlike the PS3 and 360 which took a loss on every console for a while

Nintendo could easily cut the price of the Wii and that would destroy the Kinect launch

but just watch....

If Nintendo does NOT cut the price of the Wii before the launch of Kinect, it means that Nintendo is SURE that Kinect will not do well, as they don't see Kinect as a threat at all, so they won't cut the price

think about it, why wouldn't Nintendo cut the price of the Wii?

Suprising someone has that much faith in the Wii still.  Personally I see it like this, the Wii will have a price cut for sure.  But Nintendo isn't stupid and they will hold off as long as they possibly can.  Why should they cut the price right now when they are still doing fairly well and don't have too?   The answer is they won't until they have too (Nov 26 Black Friday), so they will make that extra few million bucks.  (Just remember that they are still within a few thousand of being number one sales wise).

You are right, no one can really predict these things 100%.  But you can judge a lot of the initial sales on the hype meter alone.  The hype for Kinect is higher than anything I have seen recently and thats including the PS3.  When a product gets on Oprah (like the person above stated) its like a gold mine.  People buy into her shit like she's  the next coming.  A book gets on her list its instantly # 1 same goes with anything that she promotes.  Thats why you see so many companies clamoring to give away shit on her show.

So paraphrasing here, Oprah is a sales goddess and people listen to her.  She has endorced Kinect and it will sell really well even without that bajillion dollar sales campaign that Kinect has going for it.  The Wii will cut the price, but it won't affect sales as much as you think.  And only time will tell who eates the crow.
