I had a sneaking thought, with the recent adjustments, that there was a chance PS3 global sales on WE 19 Dec 2009 might have been bumped backover 1 million. So I went and checked it out and sure enough:

ConsoleWeekly (change)Total
DS 1,835,195 (+17%) 120,558,012
Wii 1,773,924 (+17%) 62,624,961
PS3 1,000,874 (+37%) 30,080,621
X360 679,007 (+26%) 35,900,317
PSP 546,991 (+22%) 54,945,061
PS2 221,157 (+19%) 134,971,952
Total6,057,148(+22%)

I couldn't let this be consigned to history without some form of public acknowledgement. It's a great feat for the loser console of the generation, and I'm sure it's unprecedented in console history for the lowest selling home console in a generation to crack 1 million in sales for a single week.

Beautiful isn't it? Long may it last (please no downward adjustments later on).

Not outside the statistical margin for error, but it's still nice to see it.

With Wii tracking so low at the moment, and no price cut on the horizon - it would seem - are we likely to see a 1 million week this holiday for any console?

I don't think Kinect will bump 360 sales by so much that it will get to 1 million.

I can't see PS3 repeating this because it relied heavily on FFXIII launch in Japan (243K) to get over the 1 million . Only possibility is if GT5 launches globally on WE 18 or WE 25 Dec, but I think it will either launch before then or early 2011.

Even DS with it's current (relative) lows in weekly sales might not make it over 1 million, with 3DS being so imminent and all.
