Looking at the trends it would seem the PS3 is no longer has the same value proposition it once had against the 360. The 360 has not had a price cut yet its sales have accelerated so much it's clear to see it reversed a trend. It would seem the 360 now has lost some of its deficienes in the eyes of the public and still has the price factor in the future when it needs another jolt.
I'm not saying this to dismiss the PS3 but more to point out why this generation is so topsy turvy. The 360 redesign has taken what was considered a flawed console and turned it into a desirable (so far perceived reliable) console with good value.
The PS3 is still the power house it always was but the continuing cost cutting by Sony has brought it towards a more mass market pricepoint. I would say it's lost some of the selling points it had now the 360 has wifi as standard, bigger harddrives and the fact Bluray players are so cheap.
Finally the Wii hasn't done anything to excite me in two years so I can see why keeping its momentum is an issue. The third party titles aren't there to add enough variety in my opinion and there is only so many similar games the casuals will buy.
All in all I expect the PS3 to bundle games and tough it out till next year. The 360 will now likely stay this price until next year also as I don't see Microsoft feeling the need to drop, agressive Kinect bundling is more likely. The Wii needs a price drop and lots of limited editions to try and stimulate some growth.
This is all just my opinion and you can completely agree or disagree as you wish.
