Now to actually add something.
The masses are generally unintelligent and it shows even more on the internet as their is a great lack of censorship and moderation here in comparison to the real world. Thus, their lack of comprehension and common sense becomes more apparent. My city was rated amongst the world's most intelligent places (I think it's been in the top 5 for the last few years and rated first once: http://www.cigionline.org/articles/2007/05/worlds-smartest-city) and all I see when I look around is morons. It really worries me because this is supposedly amongst the highest average of intelligence in the entire world and it's still plagued with complete idiocy. I probably sound pessimistic and filled with hatred against the state of humankind and in all honesty I probably am. But then I remember that if it weren't for all these people around me there'd be no lulz. And that brings me to my point: T3h interwebs iz 4 t3h lulz! Just relax and enjoy it. I think you put that point very well.
