Could the focus be less on Vgchartz as a news/review site and more as just a sales site? I'm not saying that those things aren't important, but news/reviews/editorial sites for videogames are a dime a dozen, and it's a crowded market. I just don't see true growth for Vgchartz coming from something that a lot of both big and small sites already do. If I pictured an ideal future for this site, it would be one with a huge emphasis on data rather than stuff that can be found anywhere else. Vgchartz should be like Metacritic, not Gamespot. Like BoxOfficeMojo, not Rotten Tomatoes (well that one isn't as good of an analogy but I think you get the point).
NPD is being incredibly dumb, and it's opened up a huge opportunity for this site. Vgchartz could become the BoxOfficeMojo or Billboard of the videogame world. But it can only do that if the focus remains on increasing the availabity of information and opening the site up to new markets. For example, one way to grow Vgchartz would be to provide numbers for certain regions in particular (such as Africa and East Asia), and help make the site faster and quicker for people in those areas that don't have fast internet connections. Vgchartz is a diverse, worldwide site, and I think we should continue to work towards making it even more open to new audiences.
Another worry for me is organization. If new features are going to be added to the features that we already have, then I'm even more concerned about clutter. I really do think a simple, clear, and quick format is the best way to go. Filling the background and every conceivable space with ads and banners slows down the site. I don't work on the design or coding, so I feel bad criticizing, but I think that should be the biggest priority.
I've also posted another set of suggestions (although probably just a rant), in the complaints/suggestions thread. Definitely worth reading:
