Is it a missed opportunity for Nintendo? Yeah, probably. And I know some people might think this is stupid but I actually almost respect Nintendo more for not releasing a Wii-HD because I think it would be kind of a cheap cash-in to get people to buy a new console for something that's not really all that special. Clearly the next Nintendo console will be an HD console, but I wouldn't buy a mild upgrade for the Wii. I'd rather just buy an all-new console when it launches, an not an interim console.

At most there would be a system redesign, if Nintendo feels they can make the structure of the system better.

But I don't see them doing that....do you? Especially not at such a late stage in the game...

You think late redesigns never happen?

In this case I don't think so; I think Nintendo is totally focused on their next console.

You thinking so is not proof. Motives need more than just guesses.

Plus you seem to think Nintendo redesigned the NES and SNES interfered with their successors.

I never said I had proof. It's a hunch. That's it. I don't know anything more about Nintendo's plans than anyone else.

Anyway, a redesign wouldn't get in the way of the next system. It would depend entirely on if Nintendo felt the could improve the pyisical system. The NES redesign got rid of the slot loader that was too sensitive to dust (the infamous cause of blowing on cartridges).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
