@Joelcool7:
I thought that gays deserved recognition as a couple. How ever the gays in my community didn't want just common law and unions they wanted to get married in churchs and in government buildings they wanted to impose their beliefs on pastors and civil servents.
Civil servants work for the state. They have to respect the state's laws. Their personal beliefs don't matter. The pastor issue is something else entirely.
I believe marriage is between a man and a woman before God and so does the majority of faiths from Jews to Muslims. As such Marriage is a religious act.
Civil marriage isn't a religious act. Different religions can marry whomever they want, but the State can't discriminate, nor should it care how religions define marriage. Marriage predates any current religion (Christianity, Islam, Judaism etc.).
That is why I disagree with gay marriage, I compromised and said yah they should have unions and be recognized but the gay movement doesn't compromise they either get what they want or keep pushing for what they want, they do what ever they have to.
That "compromise" is no different than segregation.
As for another Canadian's position. I live near Vancouver known as sin city and the people in my area are very open with their sexuality. I know the laws here and I'm pretty sure their similiar else where in the country, but I don't know how popular homosexuality is in other parts of the country I know it isn't very popular in the praries but it seems to be pretty big in Ontario too.
You obviously don't know a lot about what sexual orientation is, if you use words like "popular" regarding homosexuality, as if it were a fashion trend or something.
But then again the jocks also called me a homophobe and the catholics who had their orgy parties.
Sorry. You either live in some alternate universe, or you're a pathological liar. I agree with the people on this forum saying you're a liar. I doubt any of this is true.
I don't consider myself a homophobe I consider myself straight. Just because I disagree with one issue (Gay marriage) doesn't mean I'm a homophobe. Just because I think its a sin does not make me a homophobe.
Since homosexuality (like any sexual orientation) is an innate characteristic of a person, you saying that homosexuality is a sin is no different than someone saying that being black is a sin. If you think it's a sin then you are a homophobe!
