Well I'm Canadian, and from Quebec, probably one of the most open province in Canada. There was a girl in my class, when I was in high school, that came out and all of her friends abandonned her and looked down on her afterwards. Most people in my family do not understand gays either and find it disgusting. I never told them I'm bi, but since I'm with a guy, that doesn't matter I guess. XD I would certainly not say that gays are treated nicer, in fact the issue is still the contrary.
