Well, I just feel it captures the feeling of a gritty battlefield perfectly, and yet at the same time, it's in a completely different (and unique) setting, and at the same time, still feels so real. I don't know how to explain it, really...but trust me, I've played many shooters on both PC and consoles. And I'm not alone on this, critics also give it points for some originality.
Can you tell me why you think it's generic at least? I haven't seen your reasoning yet.
Edit: I'm seeing some very laughable statements here. I guess to some, personal grudges hold more weight than factual evidence. That, or they just don't do any research.
